Swastika is a 10,000+ year old sacred symbol that has been used in religious ceremonies since millenniums by Hindus, Buddhists and much similar civilizations to denote good luck, fortune and prosperity. Swastika good luck coins of excelsior shoe company
Excelsior Shoe Company was the official supplier of shoes to Boy Scouts of America. They distributed a swastika good luck coin free of charge on the purchase of each pair of shoes. On the front of this coin is a boy scout ridding on a horse and on the back, a large swastika with other good luck symbols. A special medallion with swastika symbol was made for scoutmasters. Swastika good luck coin was a advertising gimmick to attract young generation that were very fond of boy scouts just like the modern young generation is very found pokeman or popeye.
Hole at the top of the coin was used to tie it in a locket, key chain etc. Some of its coins were printed with the message "Membership emblem of the Boy Scouts Club"
Swastika good luck coins of Easy Wear Shoe company
Below is the swastika coin of another shoe company located at Indianapolis of Indiana state. Just like the shoes of this company that were very simple and moderate, coins of this company, as you can see below, were also very simple with just plain swastika & other symbols and no company name or good luck message at the borders of the coin. At the bottom of the coin is a big hole that allows it to be attached to any shoe, keychain, locket etc.
Swastika coins of The Swann-Abram Hat Company
Founded in the early 1920’s at Louisville of Kentucky state, Swann-Abram Hat Company was one of the premium hat companies to circulate swastika coins of different sizes and styles as a good luck token to its customers. Below is the brass made swastika coin sized of a half dollar. On the top is the company name with a giant swastika at the middle followed by the good luck wish at the bottom. On the reverse side is the giant swan at the middle and the company slogan “Wear Swann hats-They are guaranteed”

Below is the swastika good luck coin of Venhoff & Hillen Hats Company, another hat manufacturer from Louisville city. Reverse side of this coin is exactly similar to coin of Swann-Abram Hat Company except the addition of city name on the borders. Front side of the coin is printed with face value at the middle and the advertising statement “Wear V&H hats. We hat the town”
Swastika coin of Hodshon Hat Company
Founded in the early 1910 by Ralph J.Hodshon, Hodshon Company operated several stores in the east coast region of New Jersey. According to US patent records, a patent was awarded to Hodshon Hat Company in 1914. Below is the swastika coin of hodshon Hat Company with the message “Keep with you and you will always have good luck”. Unlike other coins, Lucky number seven is enclosed in one corners of the swastika. This coin was worth 5 cents.
Swastika coin of Cedar W. E. Steffey Jeweler
Founded in 1912, W. E. Steffey Jeweler was a small jewelry store at ALTOONA town of Pennsylvania state. On purchase of jewelry worth 10$ or more, a swastika imprinted copper coin worth 1$ as shown below was gifted free to customers. Additionally, an account was created and offers/discounts were provided to registered customers on festive occasions. Founded in 1869 by Enoch morgan, Sapolio soap company was best known for its advertisements and marketing, both led by Artemas ward. Founded at Lynn city of Massachusetts State, Talbot Inc was the direct marketer and leading retailer of classic apparels, shoes and accessories, known for its outstanding service and quality clothes in wide range of sizes. Below swastika coins was redeemable for $1 on a purchase of suit or overcoat. Below is the 1928 Swastika good luck coin of Tom Sawyer Wash wear. Tom Sawyer Wash wear used both left and right facing swastika in its coins. Image of the founder “tom sawyer” is at the front of the coin and company name at the top. Reverse of this coin has the giant swastika with other good luck symbols along with the message “Keep smiling. Good luck””

Swastika is derived from the Sanskrit word svastika, "su" meaning "good," "asti” means "to be," and "ka" as a suffix. Swastika signifies the symbol of good luck, prosperity, peace and fortune. After its association with German nazis, this ancient symbol has faced a sad transition from a good luck symbol to symbol of evil and adversity. Swastika is still widely used as a good luck symbol in Asian countries like India, China, Japan, Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia etc. This symbol has a sacred spiritual significance in Hinduism and its derived religions like Buddhism and Jainism
