When I posted a blog on “Hindu mantras for success” a month ago, I got a request from one of my visitors to write a blog on “Hindu mantras for earning wealth”. So, here I am with an article for those who believes in earning wealth by chanting mantras. In an age where the money makes your mind run round and round, below are some of the mantras that would rush money to your place while you sit at your home chanting mantras peacefully. For those, who don’t believe in chanting mantras, read this article excluding the mantras part. I am sure, you will find information in this post very useful and applicable to your life.

Wealth-an important asset of everyone’s life
Wealth is the most crucial part of everyone’s life because until he/she is materialistically satisfied, he would not be able to understand the significance of spirituality and would be lost permanently in the hackles of this materialistic life, thus embarking away from the goal of self-realization.

Why I am not able to earn wealth while others do?
Very often, economy of many countries are on the verge of devastation. Financial crisis have been hurting many individuals/families in Spain, Greece, Portugal, US etc. Despite of such difficult times, there are many wealthy families who continues to enjoy their lives without bothering about the events happening in the financial markets.

They continues to become richer and happier despite of all odds. This is no rocket science, it’s all about karma-plain and simple. Let me explain:-

Prarabdha Karma May be the answer
Each of us are born on this earth for a purpose. Some are born to become a farmer, some to become a businessman and so on. Output of the actions (Karma) that we did in our previous lives is called Prarabdha Karma. If the purpose of your birth is not to earn wealth then earning wealth would be somewhat difficult for you. If earning wealth is not your Prarabdha Karma but you still want to earn money, then you need to do some serious good karmas. Hard-work, devotion and chanting mantras are some of them.

Earn wealth through positive energies
If you are not earning wealth or are facing financial troubles despite of all positive efforts/actions then it is probably due to negative energies situated in your home/office. This negative energies may be because of your karma or your family member’s bad karma, black magic, bad environment, death of family member etc. One of the easiest way to encounter such negative energies is chanting mantras. The positive vibrations created by chanting mantras subsides the negative energies that are situated in your home. More the number of chants, more is the amount of positive energies produced. When the produced positive energies outcomes the negative energies present nearby you, coming days starts with all round prosperity and happiness.

How spirituality helps in earning wealth?
In Hinduism, the first step to absolute spirituality is to “Abandon your wealth and head straight to the Himalayas”.  But before following the spiritual discourse, you would need money to work and stay in a society as it is rightly said by sages “Real spirituality is practiced in society, not in the Himalayan caves.” Money gained through hard-work and good path is no sin. In fact, Bhagavad Gita guides us in striking a perfect balance between wealth and spirituality. Spirituality is not limited to attending satsangs, singing bhajans, visiting temples, charity, donation etc but about realizing our hidden potential and doing actions for which you are born. For arjuna, spirituality was “To kill all immoral/cruel warriors and uplift dharma and peace.” And arjuna did so after he was trickled to realize his potential (karma) by none other than lord Krishna.

When a man realizes that god is not outside but within, then wealth and success follow his footsteps.

Karma and determination is the foundation to earning wealth
Karmas plays a crucial role in gaining wealth and securing it. Many of us don’t like to work but are forced to work to meet our financial needs. This is partially because we don’t find a way to enjoy our work. Waitress cleaning the dining table is more bothered on amount of tip she will receive than her job of cleaning the table. Cricketers are more interested in advertisements/endorsements than his job of playing for the country. Outcome is that they don’t only lose but lose very badly. Unless we enjoy doing our job, all our monetary dreams would be shattered very easily.
The Bhagavad Gita says
Work done with selfish motives is inferior by far to the selfless service or Karma-yoga. Therefore be a Karma-yogi, O Arjuna. Those who seek (to enjoy) the fruits of their work are verily unhappy (because one has no control over the results). - Verse  (2.49)
Once we start enjoying the work, wealth and success would follow automatically. Till then, patience is the key. As it is rightly said in Hindi “Dene wala jab bhi deta, deta chappar faad ke” which literally translates to “When god decides to give, then he gives beyond limits”

Make your mind steady to earn wealth
Following shortcuts and unnecessary thinking of fruits for your deeds is the major cause behind your failure. When you succeed, you are happy and when you fail, you are sad but what is the state of your mind when you are working? One whose mind is not faltered because of success or failure is on the path of becoming successful in his life. Lord krishna termed such a person with wisdom, knowledge and steady state of mind as ‘Sthiraprajna’. ‘Shiraprajna’ not only earns wealth but also enjoys it to the fullest.

Take risks and enjoy challenges
Enjoy the present and do your task diligently. Stand up to the challenge and take risks instead of worrying about the failure. Learning from failures and correcting those is the first path to achieve success. Rarely anyone is successful in the first attempt. As it is said in bhagavad gita
“A Karma-yogi gets freedom from both vice and virtue in this life itself. Therefore, strive for Karma-yoga. Working to the best of one’s abilities without getting attached to the fruits of work is called (Nishkaama) Karma-yoga.”

High income does not make you rich
All of us have income and earns money but very few of us are wealthy. So how do we define who is wealthy and who is not? High income by no means makes you wealthy. For Ex: Sachin earns $100,000 a year but spends most of his income in a lavish flat of New York City+ drinking/eating in  lavish restaurants while Tom, a farmer who stays in a remote village earns only 20,000$/year but saves half of his earnings following a modest lifestyle. In this case, sachin, a upper-class professional is way too poor than a remote uneducated farmer. Tom has chosen to live a debt-free life with saving of more than 3, 00,000 dollars till he retires while sachin has chosen to live a debt-ridden lifestyle where he may beg for alms during later stages of his life. Goal of earning wealth in our life should be till we reach the stage where we can live a modest lifestyle for the next 35 years without doing any work. Cultural values and risk tolerance also plays a crucial role in devising strategies to save money.

Below are some of the strategies to earn wealth

Some tips to become rich
  1)    Don’t buy expensive products unless absolutely necessary
Saving is hard but not so hard if executed from a different perspective. By different perspective, I mean looking at your daily expenses from different angles. For Ex: Before purchasing eye-catching shoes that costs 300$, one must think like ‘I earn 10$/hr, is this shoes worth 30 hrs of my efforts?  Am I going to make good use of this shoes? Wouldn’t that 100$ shoes serve my purpose of jogging?’ Saving such smaller chunks of 200 bucks would result in savings of more than 5000$ in a year which would be approximately 10% to 20% of your annual earnings

  2)    Think rationally, not emotionally
Don’t buy products out of emotions, jealousy or competition. Don’t think of buying a car after seeing your best friend driving a sexy pairs of wheels.  Never let emotions overcome your rational thinking. Buy items that pays you well in a long run. For Ex: Buying a desktop is more preferable than buying a costly laptop if you work from home and rarely travel outside.
  3)    Check well before your buy
Before buying any branded items, check out its price and quality across multiple stores. Some stores charges more for the same product than other stores. Also, some store have pretty old stocks whose quality may have worn off. Checking cost online would be preferable if you are short of time.
  4)    Buy items in bulk wherever applicable/possible.
Buying anything in bulk is always cheap as the retailers offer you high discount. This point is significantly applicable to non-perishable products. You may ask what I will do with buying bulk of items like Clock, perfumes, utensils etc.

Well, you can gift extras of those to your friends/families on occasions like birthdays/anniversaries/marriages etc. This would also save your time in buying gifts on every occurrence of a family event.
  5)    Place a limit on your expenses
Track your expenses and savings. Place a limit on your expenses (other than food, shelter and clothing) and savings every month and make sure you don’t cross the limit. Adjust budgets as per your needs. Even the basic necessities like food, shelter and clothing should not be over budgeted. For Ex: Eat only once or twice a month outside instead of eating daily in expensive restaurants.

  6)    Add more activities to your hobby list
Establish daily routines that pays well as your hobby. For Ex: Add painting, gardening or building cushions into your hobby list. This would save lot of your bucks in recruiting a gardener, painter etc. You should aim for saving more than 2-3 months of your expenses through your hobbies.
